How it all started..

Yesterday marked the 5 year anniversary of when Jase and I met...so I figured I would share how it all happened

{How We Met}

We met the summer before my Junior year of high school and Jase's Senior year of high school.

Every summer since I was 14 I would sign up for EFY with my best friend Kayla. This year we had decided to go to the one at Utah State.

Jase and all of his buddies would always go every summer as well and they usually tried to get in at BYU but this year it was already full so they ended up going up to Utah State.

I remember when Kayla and I got up there and had checked in, we were walking to find our group and there were 2 kids (Jase and his cousin Gordie) sitting against a brick wall by their group and I was thinking to myself "Wow..they look super excited to be here (NOT)."

Jase told me that when he saw us walking towards them he was thinking "Yes, finally we get some cute girls in our group."

But then we kept walking right past them and met up with our group that was next to them.

The week went on and that Tuesday night was the first dance at EFY. Jase's friend Patrick came and asked me to dance and he was such a nice kid. I had seen that him and his friends would just sit in the back corner and not do a whole lot of dancing, so once I got to meet Patrick I decided to go over and talk to the other boys. I told them that they were all lame and should come dance. So finally they came out on the floor, but they just stood there. I at least got them to slow dance so that's when I got to talk more with each of them. When they told me they were from Hurricane I had NO IDEA where that was. They explained it was by St. George and I told them that my family had a condo down there and that I was actually coming down in a couple of weeks because our football team had a game down there. So I told them we should all hang out while I was down and we all exchanged phone numbers.

On our free time, the boys would always go out and throw the football around and I could see them from my room window, so I definitely was keeping my eye on all of them. I even got brave and went out and starting throwing with them (flirting).

The last night of EFY they have another dance and I think Jase and I danced a few times together this time rather than just once.
At the last dance
The next day before we all headed home we met up and all said goodbye...then Jase and I were texting on the drive home and I don't' really remember how it all came about but they ended up coming over to my house that day to hang out for a little before they drove to SLC to stay at Jase's grandmas house that night.

Our story is pretty cheesy and we usually hate telling people we met at EFY...but we did and I am SO grateful that we met! (Obviously)

We stayed in touch with each other over the years through text, late night phone calls, and we even got to visit each other quite a bit because he always had sports games up in SLC and I would go to St. G with friends whenever we had a break from school. We always knew that we liked each other, but lets be real...we were both in high school and we lived 5 hrs away from each other. I don't think either of us really though that in the end we would end up getting married. We both dated other people and had relationships but in the end we chose each other and even though we had our ups and downs, I wouldn't choose anyone else to call mine for eternity. (:

4th of July Weekend

This last week Jase and I took off to go visit our friends and family up north. Getting engaged a week earlier was the perfect excuse to head up there for the holiday so my family could see my ring. We left Thursday morning (Jase worked 10pm to 8 am) so once he was off we made our way up there. We got to BBQ with all of my dads side of the family and then headed to Layton to watch the fireworks there! The 4th of July is one of my favorite days of the year and I was SO excited we ended up going up north to celebrate cause in my opinion...southern Utah can't compete when it comes to the 4th!

Friday we got to go to my mom's parents and pick "our" quilt and tablecloth out. My sweet grandparents quilted enough quilts plus a few, for all of their grandchildren to have when they get married. It was so hard to pick because they were all so beautiful and I was in love with them all since my grandparents had spent so much time quilting them. My grandma also crocheted tablecloths for us all so we got to pick one of those out as well. It was such a great feeling to get to do that. I think Jase appreciated it a lot cause his dad's mom was into quilting and crocheting as well and he said  my grandparents reminded him a lot of his grandparents. I just wanted to give him the biggest hug when he said that cause I know he was close with them both and he misses them a lot.

Then we got to go enjoy SLC and do a little engagement outfit shopping. After that we met up with all of my family and had dinner at The Habit at Station Park in Farmington. It was SO good..if you haven't tried it...GO! I can't believe how big Farmington is getting...there used to be nothing there except Lagoon and now it's like the "new place" to go.

We were going to out first drive-inn movie that night (we have always talked about going) but unfortunately it rained that night.

Jase had to work Saturday night so he only stayed half a day on Saturday then headed home. So grateful that he is such a hard worker but dang sometimes I hate his job (; I caught a ride with a girl from work and stayed to hang out with my fam for another night. I got to babysit Nixon that night. I wouldn't have had it any other way, I love to spend as much time with him as possible whenever I can! He's the cutest boy EVER!

Since he worked til 8 am, I got to drive and he slept

Proposal Story

So, we've had a bunch of phone calls, texts, and messages asking the whole story of how Jase proposed, and requests for pictures of the ring and what not...so I decided it'd be easiest to write a blog post with all the details and pictures for everyone to see. Hope you enjoy (:

First of all I have to give credit to Jase and his family, because they all played it off SO good. I really was not expecting a proposal from Jase that night (6/29/07). Thinking back on things, there are a few things that if I thought about it hard enough, could have hinted towards what was going to happen. I'm glad I didn't though and that it came as a surprise.

On Friday night me and Jase were talking and he asked if I had any ideas of what we could do Saturday night. A little bit ago he got some vouchers for a movie and dinner in Springdale that we keep meaning to use, and we thought Saturday night might work. I checked the movie time and the movie wasn't playing til 8pm which wouldn't work because Jase had to work at 10pm. So I let him know and he mentioned he could come to St. George and we could maybe go bowling or something. Then a little later he texted me and said his mom had gotten free movie tickets and she wanted to use them as a family and go to a movie. I asked him what movie and he replied "Idk, the new one". I didn't question him, just asked what time so I knew when I needed to be in Hurricane.

Jase had worked a grave shift Friday night and so he had been sleeping most the day after he got off. Once I got to Hurricane I was thinking, "I better make sure Jase is up so we aren't late to the movie". I sat and was talking to his family for a while raving on about how me and Jase were "never" going to get engaged (haha). This is when his family did a great job at playing things off. I finally decided I needed to go upstairs and wake Jase up, but then his mom told me he was already awake and in the shower and had asked for a haircut before we left (that is a big deal for Jase, usually I FOR SURE have to wake him up for things to make sure we are on time and  I usually have to FORCE him to get a haircut cause he hates getting them). I should have known something was up (;

While his mom was cutting his hair  he asked me if I was okay going to the movie and I said "Well yeah, what else would we do in Hurricane tonight?" Then he started saying that he wasn't sure if he was in the mood or not for a movie tonight but he sister made a comment that it was good family time and "convinced" him to go to the movie with everyone. (I'm telling ya, they all played it off SOOOOO good).

So,  now it was about time for the movie to start so Jase's mom handed us all our "VIP Pass" for the movie, and we made our way down to the theater. I asked his sister Jessica how their mom had gotten these tickets for free and she just kept saying "I really have no idea". Later she said she wasn't sure what I was told so she just said that so she didn't ruin the surprise.

As we were walking in to the theater I was telling Jase and Jessica about a dream I had that Jase had asked me to marry him and I HATED the ring. (I'm sure this comment made him a little nervous as he was about to ask me for real).

We gave the workers our tickets and walked in to our movie. The movie we were going to "see" was White House Down and Jase's mom kept saying she heard it was really good. We found seats and  settled in for our movie.

The previews started playing and I was just enjoying myself. After all the previews played (when the lights completely dim and the movie is supposed to start) a computer screen appeared and I kinda laughed and looked at Jase and said "Only in Hurricane would that happen" and he even looked at me and said "Welcome to Hurricane".  Then that's when the ADORABLE slideshow of us started playing. The second the video started playing I knew what was going on and seriously tears just started flowing. I looked at Jase and he just stared straight forward (I think he was nervous). I kept watching the movie, wiping tears, then would look at Jase, wiped tears, watch the video, etc.

I seriously could not believe this was happening in such a public situation. If any of you know Jase he DOES NOT like attention brought to himself. He would avoid going to school on his birthday in high school because of all the attention. So for him to ask me to marry him in front of all these people (the theater was pretty full before we got there, and Jase said he counted at least 30 more people walk in after we had already sat down) was quite the surprise.

The movie ended with the words "Will You Marry Me?" on the screen then the lights flipped on and Jase got down on his knee. Of course I said "YES!" and gave him a big hug! Everyone started clapping and cheering and I seriously was on cloud 9. I was SO happy!

Jase's brother Kaden recorded the whole thing and I'm hoping that I can someday post the video for those of you who want to watch it.

It really turned out so cute and so perfect. I had waited for this day for so long and it was finally here! BEST NIGHT EVER!

Here are some of the pictures along with the video he played that night (:

Isn't it gorgeous???

I think my favorite part about being engaged is seeing how excited Jase is about it all. He may play tough and not say much about it...but I think between his smile in all of the pictures and him asking me to see my ring every ten minutes...it's safe to say he is one happy boy (:

New Beginnings

One day at work, a couple of the girls I work with and I were talking about blogs (they are all married and have blogs) and I was saying how when Jase and I get married that I would love to have a blog....

1. Because we both have friends and family all over the state of Utah (and a few in other states) that I thought might be interested in seeing what we are up to (huge assumption, I could be totally wrong).

2. What better way to talk and keep track about the rest of our lives together... (:

I told these girls that once we were married I would start one but they suggested to me that I start before that because getting engaged and planning a wedding is such an awesome time of your life and you don't want to forget how you were feeling in those times. So...I took their advice and now that Jase and I are engaged, I figured it was okay to start OUR new blog. WAHOO!

So here it is, I really hope to keep things updated but we will see how it goes.
